I have bought every recording Patty has ever made. I’ve never regretted a single purchase. The depth of her music has brought me countless hours of gratitude for her gift to this world. She is in a class by herself and history will bear witness that she was one of the greatest.

I know, I know; I gave it 5 stars. But as a longtime Patty fan…right from the beginning of her recording career…I do have to say (and I’m saying it as nicely as I can) that her voice in so many instances sounds- Well, ‘less than her best’. In fact, there are some tracks that have me wincing. But beyond this, a great album from a great singer-songwriter-performa. A national gem.
  • Her most mature body of work yet

This album is like a blast of fresh, crisp, cold air in an increasingly stale musical landscape. Patty never disappoints but I don't think I'd be wrong in saying this is her most focused, mature, powerful record to date. It moves and inspires. "You Never Asked Me" in particular might be the most devastating thing she's ever written. Thank you, Patty, for making music like this.

This album just proves that Patty Griffin is the most amazing person in the whole entire world. Her songs are melancholic yet optimistic. Thank you Patty. We are just servants of love.

So much heart, so much soul—so much freakin’ talent!! Every one of Patty’s albums weaves a rich tapestry and her music, stories and imagry tend to just stay with you. There’s no other artist who moves me and whose music I listen to more in my life. She was BORN to do this—do yourself a huge favor and make her music a part of your life!

I really love Patty Griffin and so was excited about her new CD. Have listened all morning and the songs are beautiful. Can't beat Patty Griffin singing about love and heartbreak. Especially like "You Never Asked Me," "Hurt a Little While" and "Rider of Days."
  • Back to the best....

First let me say I am a huge Patty fan, and she could sign just about anything and I would buy it. That being said, her last 2 albums have been just "so so" in my opinion, at least compared to the 6 before those. Now she is back with her 10th studio album and OMG what an album it is. To me it is very reminiscent of "Children Running Through" or "Impossible Dream". If you like those two, you will like this album. To any hard core Patty fans.... wow, omg, holy crap. She is back to the best with this one.

Patty Griffin is that kind of songwriter who writes songs that are both smart and immediate. Her works are short masterpieces that can be turned into pop, such as the Dixie Chicks' versions of "Let Him Fly" or "Truth No. 2" or even Martina McBride's rendition of "Goodbye" on her Emotion album, but her work stands the test of time and is also given thoughtful interpretations by the likes of Emmylou Harris (like "One Big Love"). Griffin though is her own best interpreter. A gifted songwriter in the Americana genre with something to say and a voice and a sound to treasure on different levels. She is in a whole different class in terms of the other pre-releases that are out on the market. Get it. Then the spread the word!

If you aren't familiar with Patty's work, you have missed something special. Go take a listen to "Children Running Through", "Flaming Red", or any of her prior albums. She is pure magic. The two new songs are both great and I can't wait to hear the new album!
