You need to buy this album. Don’t buy a song. Buy the whole thing and just let it play.

If you're a Dream Theater fan, download this album immediatly. Though it doesen't have the best of setlists, it's still great, and the performances are absolutely fantastic! The live versions here of Octavarium and Metropolis are worth the price alone. Also, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is played in it's entirety. As most Dream Theater fans know, James LaBrie is either a hit or miss live, either great or just aful. Here, he sounds absolutely fantastic, a lot better vocal wise than Live at Budokan. This is probably one of the best live released ever, get it now.

I happened upon the live HD broadcast of this concert before I knew anything about Dream Theater. I was totally blown away by the musicianship. What an amazing band and what an amazing concert. I have since gone to see them many times live and have most of their albums. If you love Progressive Rock and killer musicianship this album is a must!

Unfortunately, releasing another live album right after Live at Budokan leaves the band with little repertoire to choose from. They played pretty much their weakest music, all the "leftovers." Octavarium not being their greatest studio album either... which was the theme of the tour. The orchestra is great, and the parts the band wrote for them also, however don't expect any instrumedleys or any real slammers here. Fanatastic band, nonetheless...

I am a huge Dream Theater fan, and i can say that they are definatly one of my top 5 favorite bands ever! I love all of the songs on this album, the songs really show what DT is capable of, but wheres the orchestra? While being obvious druing Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance, the rest of the songs, the orchestra was almost non-existant! While i loved the idea of DT playing with an orchestra, it just doesnt presnt itself very much. All very talented musicians, just not executed properlly. Worth the money though!

Dream Theater has always been amazing, but this is the best live album that they have ever done.
  • One of the best live albums ever recorded

If you liked Metallica's S&M do yourself a favor and get this, it's a whole lot better. This album is a masterpiece! Score is in a 3 way tie for best live album between Opeth's Roundhouse Tapes, and Iced Earth's Alive In Athens. The album features some very good tunes, and the band is backed up by an orchestra! You must buy the whole album! The best songs on the album is the 41.5 minute track, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence(which is a giant medley of 5 or 6 songs from SDOIT) and Octavarium! While every song is solis, those two songs stand out the most. Do yourself a favor and buy this lie album and put it on your Ipod ASAP!!!
  • STUNNING!

The orchestra is amazing, and this album has like 5 of the best lengthy epics and 1 of them is an outtake from falling from infinity. 6DOIT live is really epic, with a less metally overture, and some epic parts of the song that r great live. Sacrificed sons was nice live. And finally, the live octavarium. I always listen 2 it and consider it the studio recording, because it's SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL! The original was great 2 start with, but this has a lengthened CF solo of about 7 minutes, and then it really kicks in with the root of all evil/octavarium main theme. While it is not an epic itself, it is 5 epics with 1 theme, in which they start where they begin. Some1 like him is about a man who tries to be rich and powerful, but then regrets it. The second is based on the movie "Awakenings" Full circle is very complex and I say kudos 2 portnoy. It fuses lyrics from many famous songs into a really weird plot. Then it gets really powerful at intervals while reviewing the plots of the album songs. This part has a better vocal portion from labrie. And razor's edge is very powerful, with a slight tribute to Rush's cygnus X-1 in it. All in all great album, great song.

I must admit, first getting into DT I was a bit sckeptical as to exactly what purpose the album served. Having been refered to it enough though, I think that I am finally starting to understand what makes this album nothing short of awesome. Soooo.... here is the lowdown. The first seven tracks are typical DT, nothing out of the ordinary, except, well, the orchestra. Discs 2 and 3 are what make this album so unique. It starts with the epic 41 minute six degrees of inner turbulence. First things first, hear the real song before listening to it now. It sounds completely different with the orchestra. Honestly, I think that it is better. Vacant does not have much new about it, except for the obvious violin presence. A great piano part kicks in with The Answer Lies Within, and Sacrificed Sons gets revisited with a bold new take on its melodies. Octavarium kicks off Disc 3, and let me say, this is THE PINNACLE of the album. I could not possibly imagine any better take on Octavarium than this. Last but certainly not least is Metropolis, which gets back down to DT goodness. And by goodness I mean shattering every known sound barrier. All in all, a must have for a seasoned DT fan.

The BEST live DVD I have ever seen, you must go purchase it - from start to finish the band is absolutly in top form, and then add in the orchestra and it gets even better, stand outs for me are, The Root of All Evil, nice opener, Raise the Knife, The Spirit Carries On, , the band just looks so happy at the crowd reaction, Damn, if only i could've been there =(, to those that were, talk about lucky - My Fav - the SDoIT suite, OMG!!! , stunning, absolutly stunning, whats amazing is that you dont even realize its over 41 minutes long!!!, i didnt want it too end, gave me chills on the Losing Time/Finale part, and Octavarium, wow....just WOW - DO NOT just buy single songs here, buy the whole thing, you WILL NOT be disapointed
